Introduction to PSIAM

Priority Solutions triage software (PSIAM) has been designed to address the growing need of patients to gain access to an increasingly burdened medical system. It incorporates a patent-pending process for linking MPDS and the ATRUST Teleguide Algorithms in a call-taking triage software application. Callers to an emergency dispatch center using the software can be seamlessly directed between a trained nursing professional or a dispatcher depending on the needs of the caller and the type of incident involved.

Often this process will eliminate the need of an emergency room wait, or unnecessary visit to a primary care professional. PSIAM provides an effective questioning series which gathers initial information from the patient/caller and then matches them with appropriate care provider(s), or provides the first-aid direction necessary to avoid a trip to the hospital or doctors office. Benefits of the system include:

    * Effective and standardized triage of the patient and assignment of appropriate medical care
    * Important patient information and background is gathered before they enter the system
    * Matches the patient's health care needs with the appropriate level of service
    * Safely manages the growing demands on health care providers
    * Reduces the demand on ambulance transportation services
    * Reduces emergency room visits and wait times
    * Reduces unnecessary visits to a personal care physician

What is PSIAM?

PSIAM facilitates access to appropriate health care services by prompting trained medical professionals to collect information from callers and then use this information to determine the appropriate level of health services that are required. PSIAM streamlines communication between emergency public safety systems, phone-based health care gatekeeper systems, and health care providers around the world. While it has been designed to function in this integrative role, PSIAM can be configured for stand-alone use in emergency call centres or in traditional nurse triage centres.

At the core of PSIAM lies an automated clinical content product. For callers who deem their situation to be a medical emergency, PSIAM automatically invokes the MPDS protocols which enable trained emergency dispatch call handlers to provide pre-arrival instructions and dispatch life support protocols as appropriate. For those who state that the reason for their call is non-emergent, they are triaged using the ATRUST Teleguide Algorithms.

This patent-pending innovation clearly distinguishes PSIAM from other currently available access management tools and assures that callers receive an appropriate service regardless of the method they have used to access the health care system.
